The Simple Things

With lovely weather and lovely friends often the simplest days out are the best.

Last week I went out with Luca and my close friend Ashleigh. As it was the Easter holidays I didn't want to go anywhere that would be heaving with children so we settled on a trip to a local pub for some grub and a walk around the numerous fields surrounding it.

The pub, The Crooked Billet at Saxton, is fabulous and if your ever in the area I would recommend a visit.  Laura the landlady is lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Whilst we waited for our lunch we played in the fields that belong to the pub and stroked their new additions, two goats.  After our delicious food we then wandered across the road to the Lead Church.

Steeped in history this church is absolutely flipping beautiful. It is so tiny and no longer holds regular services but it is still consecrated and holds the occasional service during the year.  It is open to the public to have a look around and if you like a bit of history it really is worth a little visit.  Unfortunately it wasn't open the day we went so we just sat around in the field, played with stones together outside the church and spent ages watching the little river (Luca is such a water baby) before heading home.

It was a joy to see Luca using his little imagination and nothing but what nature gave us to have fun and play.  No toys, no technology, just us and Mother Nature.
